Looks like we have a new Mayor here in Oakville, the not-so-green parties Rob Burton. The "Green" party is not affiliated at all with the actual green party of Canada; they are just a group of people who do not want to see any more construction in the Oakville area (north of Dundas) They have a number of people that also ran in the wards including Ward 4 (my ward) Roger Lapworth who also won tonight. This "party" should be closely watched -- Thin politics, with only one issue which is really a provincial issue -- to make sure they can focus on the actual issues that Oakville faces such as garbage, schools, education, and events. Events are actually the reason Shannon and I live in Oakville, the events here are barnone! Lets hope it remains that way now that we are getting a major shift in focus.
