I thought I would re-post this from Kevin Rose's forums. It is a good list of the different hacker war games currently being run that you can join up, with a good description of what level of skillz you need before your start.
It also reminds me that I am still on level 7 of Hackers Lab, and I know how to get to level 8 but have been to busy to go up to the next level.

Here is a list of War Games for those of you who don’t know what War Games are they are hacking games that are like real hacking, but you can’t get in any trouble because they are just a game. This a great hand-on experience for the newbies out there. I have given a brief description and a list of what information you need to know to play the game.

Description: This site has four different games that you can play on a team against other teams. This site is just starting so it might take some time before they get it going, but check it out.

This game you play as an Agent that has to sabotage companies, steel data and other things down that line. This is a Hollywood made war game none of it is real like the tool's you use in it are not real and stuff like that but it's still a fun game to play. Get the free demo
